Hiroya Tsukamoto is a unique composer, guitarist, singer-songwriter.
Hailing from Kyoto, Japan, Hiroya began playing 5-string banjo at 13 quickly followed by guitar. He was drawn to the US with a full scholarship to the Berklee School of Music, a rare honor. While in Boston Hiroya formed the band Interoceanico with players from other continents. The group released 3 acclaimed LP’s.
Since then, Hiroya has released 3 solo LP’s and appeared in concert at many prestigious venues as well as television. He’s performed at New York’s famed Blue Note Jazz Club several times and placed second in the International Finger Style
Guitar Championship.

One-of-a-kind composer, guitarist and singer-songwriter Hiroya Tsukamoto will demonstrate fingerstyle techniques (playing with the fingers in place of a pick), including chords and basic theory.
Hiroya will cover how to practice in daily basis to improve your skills and effective way to practice. He breaks down different elements of music such as tone, rhythm and explains how to apply to regular daily practice routine.
Also, using his compositions as an example, Hiroya will demonstrate how to start composing an original guitar piece. Learn the elements of song structure, including intros, verses, choruses, bridges, and outros, and how to distill a composition down to its essence. Hiroya shares what he cares about when composing.
